About Dr. Amanda O'Hara

Bridging the gap between clinical medicine and transformative healing.

From Roots in Tahoe to Global Service

I grew up in the Tahoe area, where the mountains instilled in me a deep reverence for nature and its rhythms. This connection to the land has always been a grounding force in my life, one that I now nurture between my time in the Bay Area and Hawaii.

My medical journey took me far from these mountains, leading me to work in hospitals across Africa. I spent three months in Zambia and returned for multiple trips to Uganda, working in high-pressure environments where resources were scarce but the human spirit was incredibly resilient. These experiences taught me the art of improvisation in medicine and the universal need for compassionate care.

A Shift in Perspective

While I saw the benefits of standard treatments in my hospital work, I also witnessed their limitations—especially for patients with deep-seated trauma and depression. My own path to understanding healing deepened when I had firsthand experience with Ketamine-Assisted Therapy.

Navigating that territory myself was a pivotal moment. It wasn't just clinical theory anymore; I felt the profound shift in perspective and emotional resilience that these medicines can offer. It solidified my belief that when used responsibly and legally, these tools are not just treatments, but catalysts for lasting growth.

Commitment to Safety

My practice today is built on that foundation of personal understanding and professional rigor. I work strictly within current legal frameworks (such as Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy) and focus heavily on preparation and integration—ensuring that your experience is safe, supported, and transformative.
